The Mto wa Mbu offers an authentic cultural tour: including a visit to a Maasai boma where you will experience how semi-nomadic communities continue to live according to their age-old traditions. Experience the innovative farming practices of Mto wa Mbu villagers and learn about the irrigation system that sustains local crops, including the 32 varieties of bananas. An option is a mountain bike safari through the Mto wa Mbu settlement. After cultural activities at Mto wa Mbu, we will drive to the Lake Manyara National Park an Ornithologist’s paradise, and the elusive tree-climbing lions famous for its breathtaking show of flamingos. Tucked at the Great Rift Valley wall, lake Manyara National Park is a thin green band of forest. There is surprisingly varied vegetation that supports wealthy wildlife. Deep in the south of the park, hot springs bubble to the surface as hippos wallow near the lake – dinner, relaxation, and goodnight at the Country Lodge.
DAY 06 – A SAFARI TO THE SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK
Embark on a safari today in the most famous wildlife reserve in the world the Serengeti. The name Serengeti is often said to be derived from the word “seringit” in the Maasai language, Maa, meaning “endless plains”. Serengeti is the stage on which the most spectacular wonder of nature takes place, the Great Migration. In this park, millions of ungulates comprising wildebeest and zebras make that all-important trek from the Serengeti to the Masai Mara National Park in Kenya. But that’s not all the Serengeti has to offer, it boasts the largest and highest concentration of wildlife in the world. Spanning an impressive 14,800 sq km area, this savannah is home to all the members of the Big 5, the splendid cheetah, gazelles, African wild dogs, giraffes, and approximately 500 species of birds, making it a bird watchers’ paradise as well. You will spend one night at central Serengeti.
Alternatively, this route can be covered by Airplane, please contact us for more information.
DAY 07 – EXPLORE THE ENDLESS PLAINS OF CENTRAL SERENGETI
The central part of Serengeti is also known as the world’s predator capital. Sighting of leopards, cheetahs, and lions is guaranteed! Although animals still rule the Serengeti plains, this area has a long history of human occupation including the human ancestors (Australopithecus afarensis) who are believed to have lived in this area almost 4 million years ago. Dinner, relaxation, and a good night’s sleep at the camp.
DAY O8 – HEAD TO NORTHERN SERENGETI
After a leisurely breakfast, we will drive toward the Northern Serengeti one of the most impressive areas in the Serengeti national park ecosystem. En route keep an eye out for wildlife as we make our way there, and enjoy a full-day safari with a picnic lunch. You will spend two nights in the northern Serengeti.
DAY 09 – MIGRATION TRACK IN THE SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK
Spend a day exploring the beauty of Serengeti National Park. The northern Serengeti offers a distinct landscape. It features rolling hills, valleys, acacia woodlands, and ravines, rather than the vast open grasslands common in central and southern Serengeti. From July to October, the wildebeest migrate to the northern Serengeti in search of richer grazing grounds. Here they normally encounter one of the biggest challenges on their journey, the mighty Mara River. It flows through the northern Serengeti and Maasai Mara and becomes the stage for one of nature’s most spectacular events, the wildebeest river crossing. The violent river torrents and the crocodiles waiting in ambush manage to nab and drown quite a few wildebeests. The wildebeests are aware of the dangers and you can hear their low nervous grunts and feel the tension in the air. Delicious dinner, relaxation, and overnight at the camp.
DAY 10 – GOODBY SERENGETI
After breakfast, your guide will drive you to the airstrip to catch a flight to the beautiful beaches of the island of Zanzibar, Pemba, or Mafia. The choice is yours. Tanzania offers you all you could wish for. You will arrive on the same day at the beach and you will be collected to your front beach Accommodation.
DAY 11 – 14 RELAXING ON THE BEACH
Spend your last few days enjoying the beach life or let us know if there is anything in particular you would like to do.
